April 2007 Newsletter

Letter From the President:

A Record-Breaking Conference & Expo for ACCA

In my last article I told everyone I was on my way to the National Conference in Orlando - Wow! 1 can't stress enough the "value" of ACCA's conferences and seminars, whether it's National, State or Chapter. Please enjoy the following summary of the 2007 Conference and Expo

The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA), the nationwide association of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) contracting businesses, held the most successful annual meeting in its history from March 6-8 at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando. Themed "Imagination in Action," over 1800 people attended the conference and expo over the three-day period.

The conference implemented several new ideas throughout. "We completely streamlined our schedule, 'blowing it up' to allow new ideas to shine through and help contractors connect with each other," commented Paul Stalknecht, ACCA President & CEO. "Each year it seems our turnout grows and the event is even better than the year before. This year exceeded our expectations."

The Indoor Air Expo, held in conjunction with the conference, featured over 200 booth spaws, the largest floor in the organization's history. The conference featured over 22 breakout workshops suggested and selected entirely by ACCA members; a completely revamped and high-tech "I've Got
An Idean session; and top-notch business practices speakers Scott McKain and Stan Slap.

Conference participants praised this year's efforts. "I have been fortunate to attend three of these meetings, and every time it gets better," said Patti VanKuiken of Seaman's Air Conditioning & Refrigeration in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

May 2007 Newsletter

YOUR ACCA AT WORK

I just wanted to take some time to congratulate our membership for some recent accomplishments that are having a huge impact on our Chapter. First and foremost a big congratulations to TDlndustries - Dallas for receiving the ACCA Commercial Contractor of the Year and Todd McAlister for receiving the ACCA Spirit Award. According to our accountants our Chapter recently had the most successful 1 st quarter in its history. We had (1 6) new members join, our training program had approx. 575 people attend classes in this 1 st quarter alone (which is a 75% increase from 1st quarter 2006) and our Board of Directors has adopted several new policies that will add even more value to your ACCA membership. I am very excited to announce that our Chapter has made a significant investment into a new state of the art web-site that will be fully functional sometime this summer. This web-site will have many new features to attract Contractors and to promote our Associates.

Some of the new features will include: Members only area, Associates on-line buyers guide, Ability for banner ad space and links to individual businesses, Consumer Information with an updated Contractor Locator and... These are just a few things that will continue to make ACCA-NTX stand ahead of the pack and keep our Chapter in the forefront of ACCA.

Legislative Update

Last month I provided some legislative updates, but as we are coming to an end of the 2007 session I feel it is very important to keep you updated with the most current information available. I received some of this information just last week and as we close the session at the end of May I will give one more update in the very near future as to the final status of these bills and what they mean to us. Again feel free to contact me or Rick at the ACCA office if you have any questions.
